July is the month of 2 of Donald’s world records. His first Water Speed Record on Ullswater on 23rd July 1955 and his Land Speed Record at Lake Eyre on 17th July 1964. To continue our celebrations in Donald’s Centenary year we are inviting you all to our Radio Controlled Boat Regatta on the 24th July on Coniston Water. Bring your model boats and run them on the lake as part of our celebrations. We will have broadcaster Andy Kershaw commentating, various competitions (with prizes) and we will have stalls selling Bluebird merchandise. Come and see us, watch the boats and have a paddle in the Lake.
If you would like to enter your boat please email:
accounts@ruskinmuseum.com, with your name, address and details of your boat. We are charging a small entry fee of £5 per boat to enter which will go towards the cost of putting on the Regatta.
We would like to thank The Bluebird Cafe by the Lake for sponsoring us and special thanks to Rich Marsh, The Campbell Family Heritage Trust, Coniston Boating Centre, LDNPA and David Coxon for assisting us in putting on this event.
More information regarding timings and logistics will be released nearer the time but it will be an all day event so plan for being here the whole day.
